This renewed kahal, or ‘assembled congregation’, was given a new opportunity to express their worship and restitution towards God. The children of Israel were commanded to bring contributions for the construction of the holy tabernacle. The people begin by bringing various items and many goods are brought, from gold and silver, to goat’s hair and spices. Much is brought and the work of the people greatly increases, offerings keep coming each day until finally an order is sent throughout the camp to stop giving as there is more than enough to complete the construction of the tabernacle.
