The City of Austell, GA, with their new Vermeer VX50-800 vacuum excavator which will be used to locate water leaks by exposing utilities buried near and on top of water lines and clean up catch basins and manholes in the storm system. Here we see the VX50-800 being used to locate excess coiled pipe by a water main improperly installed by contractors when the subdivision was built. Any type of mechanical excavation would likely have damaged or destroyed the excess water service and the excess telecom that’s also coiled up on top of the water main.
