Over his decades-long career, he was worked on both American and Korean films, and with some of the top directors in those industries including Yeon Sang-ho and the legendary Bong Joon-ho on films like Okja, Parasite, and Mickey 17. We begin with his early career as an on-set editor, where footage is assembled on the fly. Yang explains how this not only saves time and money in post-production, it also helps ensure that the footage is working and avoids expensive reshoots. Working his way up the ladder, he became the main editor and explains the extreme pleasure he has had working as Bong Joon-ho's editor for the last three films. On Parasite, the question is about how he was able to navigate and transition between the film's tonal shifts. Yang explains that his role was to support the script and reinforce this evolution by giving each scene the necessary presentation. His Oscar nomination for Parasite goes to show that he achieved that goal. On Mickey 17, he admits it was the most satisfying collaborative project of his career but that there were some challenges. In particular, editing on set once again, they were shooting a scene in which Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 (both played by Robert Pattinson) needed to interact. He was tasked with compositing the footage of both performances on the spot to make sure the scene was working. Yang Jin-mo is one of today's top editors. Regardless of language, country, genre, and tone, he has proven many times that he can handle it all. #filmproduction #VideoEssay #Filmmaking ───────────────────── Music by Artlist ► https://utm.io/umJx Music by Artgrid ► https://utm.io/umJy Music by Soundstripe ► http://bit.ly/2IXwomF Music by MusicBed ► http://bit.ly/2Fnz9Zq ───────────────────── SUBSCRIBE to StudioBinder’s YouTube channel! ►► http://bit.ly/2hksYO0 Looking for a production management solution for your film?
