Movie: Operation Petticoat Year: 1959 Director: Blake Edwards Another of my favorite movies. This scene is loosely based on a true story...a US submarine spotted an enemy tanker moored to a pier. They fired a spread of three torpedoes; one hit the tanker, but one of the others hit the pier which had a truck parked on it. The sub commander wrote in his log: "Sighted truck; sank same". The movie is one of the few war films that would be fine for children, but be aware it was made in 1959, so you might be able to detect a bit of misogyny.
