Mark Wills covering Keith Whitley "Don't Close Your Eyes."

Don't Close Your Eyes was the first song Kelly, Mark's wife, heard him play at the Buckboard back in the 90s. To this day it is my favorite cover Mark has done and any chance I get I ask him to play it. My mom frequented the Buckboard and met Mark before his career too off. I still remember the day she told me Mark asked Kelly to marry him. I was about 5 or 6 and I cried, ha. I still remember meeting Kelly. She was tall, tan, and blonde. She wore this floral outfit almost Hawaiian themed with a flower bracelet and she was absolutely gorgeous. It warms my heart knowing they're still so in love as the day they first met. When I hear Mark sing Don't Close Your Eyes you hear his love for Kelly but also the honor and respect he has for Keith Whitley. That is something I feel is lacking in country music today. That is why I will always love Mark.
