The Foton Tunland came out of nowhere when it launched in Australia late in 2025, packing a surprising amount of substance considering the affordable price tag, from $39,990 before on-road costs, or $45,990 for the as-tested V9-L. Similar to the GWM Cannon, BYD Shark 6 and LDV T60, the Tunland comes from China but sets itself apart by having larger dimensions in terms of both length and width, giving it a bigger cabin and back seats. Under the bonnet is a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine joined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which seeks to offer both fuel economy and grunt but how does it all come together? In this review, editor at large Nathan Ponchard gives his verdict.
