In this episode of Boots to Boardroom we talk to Scott Aaronson — Senior VP of Energy Security at EEI. The US grid is facing its biggest test in decades: can it handle the massive power demand from AI and data centers? Scott breaks down why the myth that "the grid is old and antiquated" is wrong and reveals the $1.1 trillion investment plan over the next 5 years to modernize American infrastructure. We discuss the mismatch between Amazon's "long-term" 5-year view and the utility sector's 50-year planning cycle, and why "gripping the club too tight" kills leadership. Scott also explains the global race for resources and why the US must repatriate manufacturing to ensure national energy dominance. What you'll learn Why the US grid is facing massive growth after 20 years of flat demand How utilities plan to spend $1.1 trillion to support AI and electrification The "golf grip" philosophy for effective leadership and team management Why data centers and AI are driving a global race for grid equipment The critical need to repatriate manufacturing for energy security About the guest: Scott Aaronson is the Senior Vice President of Energy Security and Industry Operations at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI).
