The Augustine Bible (ISBN: 9781950939091) presents the text of the English Standard Version – Catholic Edition (ESV-CE) in two columns formatted into paragraphs. It is a sewn paperback 9 1/16 x 6 1/16 x 1 1/8 inches in dimensions. The Augustine Bible comes with a sturdy slipcase. Its paper is 36 gsm, white with a light beige tinge, a matte surface, and opaque – but there is noticeable showthough (ghosting). The 10 pt font in the text is not line-matched, and print darkness often varies considerably from page to page. This Bible does not include cross references, a concordance, a map index, ribbon markers, or head and tail bands, but it does provide eight (8) color maps and twelve (12) blank pages for notes. This video highlights some of the differences between the ESV-CE and the 2016 ESV, upon which it is based. Two charts summarizing the differences I've found appear starting at the 00:12 point in the video. These differences are displayed beginning at the 20:00 point. There is very little difference between the ESV-CE and the 2016 ESV in the New Testament. The ESV-CE contains the Deuterocanonical books, of course. [After I posted this video, I compared the 2016 ESV and the ESV-CE in the rest of the New Testament (Acts, Hebrews, and the first 11 chapters of the Apocalypse). I found no additional differences.] If you are trying to decide between the RSV2CE and the ESV-CE, you may wish to view the font comparison at the 18:01 point and the translation comparisons that begin at the 25:39 point. The ESV-CE and the RSV2CE are very similar. Most of the differences between them are minor, but they provide some insight into the translators’ priorities. (As one viewer pointed out, I wasn't as careful as I should have been when discussing Acts 10.36. The ESV and ESV-CE simply continue to read as the RSV did. The RSV-CE provided a more literal translation at that point.)
