The "this" Keyword - Javascript In Depth

We take a look at how the "this" keyword works in Javascript together. "this" allows us to refer dynamically to different Objects depending on how the associated function or method is being called. We then look at how Javascript interprets the context behind "this" within methods and Objects. We also look at the call, apply and bind methods on Functions and how they allow us to manipulate what the "this" value is. We wrap up the video by looking at the "new" keyword and how it interacts with the "this" keyword in Functions. This sets us up really nicely to look at the new Class syntax in Javascript and what is happening behind the scenes. Note that this is an advanced topic and will take a lot of practice and trying different things over time to really cement. We'll go through some practice exercises together on the "this" keyword in the next video in the series.
