A photo slideshow documenting the 'refit' of a 1974 ODay 23-1. This boat was purchased on the cheap Oct. 2013 and redone over the winter/spring of 2014. The hatch flange was originally caulked and screwed in place. This is where the water got in which ruined the core. I glassed it back in to prevent this from re-occuring. Only the deck was painted, the gelcoat on the hull was spot repaired and buffed(not shown). I made all the exterior wood trim and handholds from black walnut. The tiller is walnut and maple, each strip bent individually around my wood burning stove then laminated together. Most of the original interior teak was salavagable but the plywood panels were not. Timbertech cutoffs seem like the perfect free/cheap, rot resistant, flexible yet tough backing to help distribute the load. Time will tell.
