Join Artlist through my link! https://artlist.io/referral/8968962/J... Today, I went around mainland Singapore to fish, as there was a mercy release of Orange-Spotted Groupers in our waters. In this video, we'll reveal the best spots to catch these fish and where they are most likely to be found after a mercy release. The frequency of these releases isn't widely known and can typically be discovered only through fellow anglers or ferry operators. Mercy release, known as "fang sheng" (meaning "life release" in Chinese) among Chinese Buddhists or "jiwitte dana" (meaning "gift of life" in Sanskrit) in Theravada Buddhism, is a practice rooted in the intention of saving animals from slaughter or returning them to freedom. Today, animals are often sold specifically for the purpose of being released, with the belief that this act brings personal merit or good luck. However, with growing environmental awareness, researchers and some within religious communities have recognized that improper life releases can harm ecosystems, introduce invasive species, and lead to the death of animals unable to adapt to their new environment. To avoid these negative impacts, Buddhists now advocate vegetarianism as a more effective way to protect life (Wikipedia, 2024). The information in this video is speculative, based on my personal experiences, guesses, and opinions. Please take it with a grain of salt and view it for entertainment purposes. Additionally, be aware that the area around Marina Cruise Centre has signage indicating that fishing is prohibited, and violations may result in fines.
