LPG Bookings Drop Across India | Govt Assures No Fuel Shortage Amid West Asia Tensions | News9

Amid recent concerns about a possible LPG shortage in India, new government data suggests that panic buying may be easing as LPG refill bookings have declined across the country. Officials said LPG bookings dropped to around 77 lakh on Saturday, compared to 88.8 lakh bookings recorded on March 13, indicating that fears of supply disruptions are beginning to stabilise. The government has repeatedly assured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or cooking gas, even as tensions continue in West Asia. Authorities confirmed that all domestic refineries are operating at high capacity and maintaining sufficient crude oil inventories. At the same time, online LPG bookings have increased to nearly 87 percent, up from 84 percent earlier. Oil marketing companies have been encouraging digital bookings to avoid crowds at LPG dealerships and reduce panic purchasing. Meanwhile, several states and union territories including Delhi, Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan have intensified raids and inspections to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. Officials say fuel stations and LPG distributors across India continue to operate normally, with no reports of dry-outs or supply disruptions.
