Ray Miller & His Orchestra - Red Hot Mama, Fox Trot, Brunswick 1925 (USA) NOTE: It's one of those very hot charlestons, which were labelled on record as the "fox trots". Perhaps, from commercial point of view, the idea of a fox-trot was better and more capacious than the "charleston", which was a total novelty then. Ray Miller's orchestra was a very prolific band, which recorded a lot in the early-mid 1920s in the area of New York - playing in such prestigous places as the Hippodrome or Arcadia Ballroom - and from 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ray Miller's band became famous when it performed together with Al Joson in 1924, in the White House. Its members, at different times, included Miff Mole (trombone); Rube Bloom and Tommy Satterfield (piano); Frank Trumbauer or Andy Sannella. Unfortunately, after the Great Depression, Ray Miller's name disappears from the musical stage.
