Today were going to talk about if it’s a good idea to text your ex to see how they are doing or not. After a break up and you go through the emotions and heartbreak it is only natural for you at some point want to wonder how is my ex doing. Should you reach out to them via text or a phone call to see how they are doing? The simple answer is no you should definitely not do it, that means no do not do it, I will continue to repeat that do not do it. But why shouldn’t you reach out and just be a nice human being? So, when an ex reaches out to see how they are doing can be misconstrued as them trying to get to a point of winning the break up. This is not the behaviour we want occurring. Reason #2 – You are, at some point going to say the wrong things. At some point you are going to sit there and say “I love you”, “I miss you” or my personal favourite “why did we break up again?”. This kind of stuff can be seen as naggy or gnatty. So, what should I do? Well if you are a big listener to my podcasts, website and YouTube channel you know I’m a big proponent of the No Contact Rule but I never really go into detail as to why I think it is one of the most effective strategies that you should be implementing a No Contact after a break up. Now the way I see it the No Contact Rule has four primary functions. Function #1 – It Allows You To Play Hard To Get We all know that scientists have proven playing hard to get makes an ex want to talk to you. And by following No Contact you are taking away their freedom to talk to you when they want and they will do anything to get that freedom back. Function #2 – It Allows You To Rebuild Your Life Now, I am a big proponent that when you go through a breakup it starts to affect all areas of your life. You go through a break up you start to feel really bad about yourself, you start to not do a great job at work, you could even end up losing your job Function #3 – It Allows You To Dedicate Time To Yourself It allows you to dedicate enough time to the most important person in your relationship. You. Instead if focusing so much of your time on your ex you get to focus so much of your time on yourself. Rebuilding your life. Function #4 – It Allows You To Become More Confident My personal favourite thing about No Contact is that it gives you time to make the decision on whether or not you want your ex back for real or did you want your ex back in a moment of weakness. Once you have completed the No Contact Rule and without any hiccups and before you reach out you must have felt a meaningful change within yourself. What is the best way to test that than character growth? What you want is sometimes not what you need. So, it is essential that by the time you reach the end of your No Contact that you realise it is ok to want your ex back, but you do not need your ex back.
