In this video review, Chris talks through the Rokker Chino Light. Now, we are the Rokker fan boys. We were the first people to bring Rokker into the UK. We are far and away the UK’s largest stockist, as well as this country’s leading seller. In fact, we were recently told that we were the largest seller in the world of their single-layer jeans and trousers. Now every year we go over to St. Gallen in Switzerland to talk to the boys about the UK market, and to discuss future projects. Well not last year, but the year before, we proposed two projects. We’ll be talking about the other one shortly, but the first idea we presented was a lighter weight chino. We love Rokker’s current chinos. They’re amazing. 50% stronger than leather, they’re pretty waterproof, have a coating that reflects the sun’s UV rays and are military sharp. The only issue is that, in high summer, they can feel a tad hot and heavy. And so we asked Rokker if they could produce a lighter weight one. Which they did. I wore a pair on a trip to Morocco back in February; they were brilliant; I loved them. They have the same Nanosphere waterproofing treatment and Coldblack treatment as the originals, and they felt a lot lighter and easier to wear. 100° temperatures in the Sahara, no problem. Now we actually received our stock in January, but the jeans were only A rated under EN17092, because that’s all that Rokker tends to go for. Sorry, but we weren’t prepared to market a £300 chino with an ‘urban’ CE certification. And so we asked Rokker for an official time slide as recorded on a CE Cambridge machine. This week we received the official report from SATRA. I have to say we were pretty amazed by the result, especially given how light these pants are. But if you want to know what that slide time is you’ll have to watch the review. There’s another neat feature with these chinos to do with the armour. Again, the Chap in the Cap will explain all.
