Found myself in North Bend yesterday to pick up a foster kitten and went out to take a quick lap on the Snoqualmie before noon. I ended up getting caught in traffic so I didn't have enough time to run the South Fork or the Club Stretch but I settled for a Powerhouse run because it is quick and easy. The river was finally settling down after hitting over 60,000cfs just last week. The river dropped to around 4000cfs the morning before I left but began to rise as I was on my way getting up to about 4900 by the time I was on the water. The river is unfortunately flowing a little too hard to ferry up and get to the base of the falls so the run began at the powerhouse and the first rapid had a nice wave train with a hole middle right. Below this was another rapid of similar nature and then the largest rapid on the run, a wave train with a few scattered holes and some large rocks in the pool below. The rapid upstream of Tokul Creek was pretty washed out at these flows but there were a few glassy waves. Tokul Creek was pouring in from river right and created a really fun boil/eddy line that was fun to jump across. Below the Tokul Creek eddy the river slams into the right wall and there is an awesome surf wave at these flows, it reminded me of a much smaller version of Rodeo Hole on the Wenatchee. At lower flows this rapid is pretty insignificant but at higher flows some good waves form and the eddyline on river left is pretty boily! The takeout was at the Plum Access lot on river right just downstream of the last real rapid. This boat launch looks like it got slightly worked during the floods but will be alright with a quick cleanup. The entire run took me about 15 minutes and maybe a half hour walk back up from the takeout. There were no wood hazards that I noticed as of 12/15/2025 but due to the everchanging nature of rivers this video should not be used as a guide or reference to any current rapids or river hazards. This is a great section of river if you are just starting out, lots of great river features and the run can be lapped over and over and over again. Even at higher flows the rapids do not get any more difficult but instead give a great intro to big water river features without difficulty or danger exceeding class II/II+ at any point. At flows below 3500cfs it is possible to ferry across the river at the powerhouse and scramble up the river left bank to the base of the falls, which significantly adds to the trip as you can paddle around in the base of Snoqualmie Falls and you also get to run the Powerhouse Rapid, a fun class III boulder garden that exits the base of the falls, just be sure not to end up too far river right coming out of the rapid because the powerhouse can present its own hazards. This run can be extended down to Fall City but at these flows all rapids are buried and at lower flows nothing exceeds easy class II and there can be wood hazards present.
