Rob Roy locomotive, coal fired, 3 1/2 inch gauge, built by Roy Ellams of Prescot & District Model Engineering Society, this was recorded on Sunday 6th October 2002. Loco is part built on his bench, and I am examining the loco'. This is a design by Martin Evans. I never actually saw this loco' run around our track. I video'd it being steamed later on (which I have uploaded already) on our steaming bay at the PDMES club track, but it didn't steam very well due to the ash pan needing holes drilled in it to add draught to the fire (the loco' could not maintain steam pressure). Roy also had trouble with the valve events and eccentrics, and he seemed to get disheartened by it and he seemed to much prefer his Jinty 5 inch gauge loco' that he was also building around this time. Roy has done a very good job machining these attractive loco's. A few years after this he moved away to Southern France to be with his remaining family there.
