Myself (Mark) and Pat left a day earlier than Lee who was bringing out some prototype match gloves for Pat to use. So that first day Pat trained with the new professional team of Los Cabos in his Non-Grips... they had no idea about the gloves until the end of the session! Also, as the title explains, Pat has just recently turned down a new contract at Everton and we honestly couldn't be prouder. It was great to hear that Jorge totally agreed and emphasised the importance of playing games. He didn't play his first pro game until 21! Campos is an absolute legend by the way! So inspirational. Even Lee wanted to get back playing after we met him for lunch. He's so passionate about goalkeeping, he was using wine glasses, coffee beans, menus to to demonstrate how he played. This is a guy all goalkeepers and coaches should be listening to! We shared so many similar beliefs about how the position should be played, what's missing from it, how GK's should train! He encourages GK's to move naturally. He mentions about crossover steps and also running a lot! Using your speed to your advantage! He definitely played the game the right way and was a true professional. He understood how important mentality was to be a top gk and his mentality was elite! He didn't drink. He wanted to be better every day. Enforces that you need to enjoy playing. Play with a smile. Take responsibility. Understood how important it was to play and make mistakes so you can learn! Be open to learn from anyone and ask questions all the time. Take inspiration from your favourite GKs, what they do well. Play different sports to develop more athletic qualities. Train game scenarios. Do things with intent to be better. How important it was to be a calm figure as a GK. Respect everyone and be humble.
