Repin Academy of Fine Arts The historical name of the complex, located on the banks of the Neva River in St. Petersburg, is the Imperial Academy of Arts. It appeared in the XVIII century, at the end of the XIX century, its functions were divided into two organizations — the Academy of Arts and the Higher Art School. Now the school has turned into the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. The Academy is located at 17 Universitetskaya nab., Saint Petersburg. The nearest metro station is Vasileostrovskaya. The architects of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg are Frenchman J.B. M. Vallin-Delamot and Russian A. Kokorinov. They created the project together, and both were teachers at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. The building is based on a rectangular shape of 4 buildings with dimensions of the outer sides of 140 × 125 meters. In the center of this rectangle there is a ring—shaped building with a circular courtyard - this building was nicknamed "compasses" by academics. The building of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg belongs to the style of early classicism. The Garden of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg was conceived even during its construction. A Greek portico was erected at the garden building. It acquired a modern look in the XIX century: the paths were laid according to the plans of the architect Ton. The Scientific Research Museum of the Academy of Arts of St. Petersburg was created simultaneously with the opening of the Academy. His collection includes works by Russian masters and authors from Europe, which help to understand how the learning process at the Imperial Academy of Arts was organized, which works became models. The exposition is located on three floors of the compass building: on the ground floor, casts of famous examples of antique sculpture are on display to the public; on the second floor there are works by academic artists, canvases that were studied and copied by students of the St. Petersburg Art Academy; The art collection on the third floor is dedicated to the St. Petersburg architecture of the XVIII–XIX centuries. In reviews of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, visitors write that many are most impressed by this section with models of famous buildings. The final part of the museum collection, available for inspection, is exhibited in the main rooms — in the Raphael and Titian halls, where copies of masterpieces by Italian masters of the XVI–XVIII centuries are placed. The year 1764 became important in the history of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, when Empress Catherine II legislated the importance of the activities of the Academy and its artists. Then work began on the construction of a building on Vasilyevsky Island, where the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg is located today. The work was carried out for about 25 years, and the interior decoration lasted until 1817. After the revolution, the academy was liquidated until 1921, and workshops appeared instead of the art school. After some time, a reorganization took place, during which the name "Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture" was approved, which in 1944 was named after the painter and teacher I. Repin. Throughout its history, the Imperial Academy of Arts has improved the education system. Currently, the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture teaches at 5 faculties. There is a full-time department with more than 1,000 students, and a correspondence department with about 500 students from different cities and countries. videograph Roman Demin http://deminvideo.ru / deminvideo https://vk.com/deminvideo music: Josef Suk, Serenade, Op 6 - A Far Cry
