Scoliosis was already known to Kelly because her sister had been treated for a large scoliosis for a time. When she was diagnosed with scoliosis, she knew what steps had to be taken. When Kelly first went to Dr. Tony Nalda's clinic in Miami, her biggest curve was 43 degrees, and in three and a half days of treatment, the curve reduced to 32 degrees. Dr. Nalda's evaluation method assesses the flexibility of the spine to determine how much of a reduction could be achieved for each patient. Kelly's spine was very flexible, and Dr. Nalda knew he could get a good reduction for her. The process is intensive, sometimes even 6 hours per day, but it is very passive for the patients because the staff at the clinic takes care of all the needed machine strapping and positioning for each patient throughout their treatment.
