Vocal compression doesn't have to be hard, we tend to just make it that way. In this video, I tell you why I needed compression and how I went about setting it up. I don't use arbitrary values or presets. You should always configure your compressors for the sound being compressed. Tip Many times its easier finding a decent starting point in your compression settings that forces you to make changes when you adjust the threshold. For me that's a 4:1 Ratio with the fastest release time. In doing this, the compression is INTENTIONALLY wrong. This then forces me to make the appropriate changes and gives me the insight and what needs to be done once I'm compressing my target. *Apologies about the doubling at the end of the video.
