Quiver trees are upside down trees found in Namibia. These trees are national tree of Namibia. Close to Keetmanshoop there is a Quiver tree forest that I have visited. It is almost 20 minutes’ drive from Keetmanshoop. Timestamp 0:00-0:32 Intro 0:33-1:12 Location and visit to the Quiver Tree Forest 1:13-1:37 Desert adaptations 1:38-2:13 Bark, flowers, and pollinators 2:14-2:26 Tree’s branches nesting sites to birds 2:27-3:00 Concluding remarks 3:00-3:11 End Screen The Quiver Tree Forest is located 17.6 km from Keetmanshoop, about a 21-minute drive. Although this forest contains only 250 trees, it is an area of volcanic origin with a notable concentration of these trees. The Quiver Tree is known for its unusual appearance, often resembling an inverted tree with what appears to be roots at the top. Recognized as Namibia's national tree, it is predominantly found in the deserts of Namibia. These trees thrive in dolerite rock areas, which are distinctive and uncommon. The bright yellow flowers of the quiver tree attract various pollinators, including insects and birds, due to their high nectar content. Additionally, the tree's branches and structure offer essential nesting sites for birds such as raptors and sociable weavers. In otherwise barren landscapes, quiver trees help form micro-ecosystems by providing shelter and perches. Due to their extensive lifespan and sensitivity to climate change, quiver trees can indicate environmental changes in arid regions. Quiver trees symbolize resilience through their ability to endure extremely arid desert environments, demonstrating their adaptability and capacity to withstand harsh conditions such as drought and extreme temperatures.
