It is headquartered at Grouard, Alberta, which is about 30 km North East of High Prairie, Alberta. The band's six reserves comprise of 1562 hectares of land. Kapawe’no First Nation has a very stable governance system, that is based on the hereditary system. Former Chief, Frank Halcrow became Chief of Kapawe'no First Nation, in 1970 and served the Nation for 50 years, before crossing-over on January 2nd 2020.
