A month ago I was a contractor in the oilfield. Last week I released my first hit single called Quarantine Lover, a song I wrote for my wife after being stuck in the house with her 2 weeks. And this week I’m interviewing with CNN. 😁 Quarantine Lover is a dance song meant to bring joy and love in a time of chaos and anxiety, and for every single sold I will be donating 19¢ to doctors and nurses, those fighting on the front lines of this virus. A month ago, I would have never dreamt of losing 95% of my contract work, being at home with my two boys and my pregnant wife, and having to file unemployment. I know a lot of people are struggling, especially in West Texas where we are getting hit with the double wammy, covid and oil wars. But out of every circumstance is an opportunity to pivot and make the best of things, and that’s what we have done. I installed a tent in my backyard. Pulled out my projector that used to be for oilfield meetings and made an outdoor movie theatre. Installed a swing and a ninja course. I’m not the one to feel sorry for myself for too long. If it’s one thing I’ve learned is that the only thing that remains the same is change. So, if I never get called back to the oilfield again, I want to at least bring a smile to people’s faces.
