Housed in an old silver factory, Johns Hopkins University's Materials Characterization and Processing Facility (MCP) is re-imagining the modern foundry. The newly renovated interiors of the building are designed not only to perfectly cater to materials researchers' needs, but also to inspire them to think creatively. The MCP's chic labs, hallways and collaborative spaces are as functional as they are beautiful. This world class facility was the first in the United States to acquire a JEOL Grand Arm 2. The MCP boasts many high end instruments that allow researchers to stretch the limits of their work. Having already hosted interested visitors from other universities, as well as from the Italian and French embassies, the MCP seeks to serve as a guide for other facilities creating the labs of the future.
