Studio Ghibli Film Music Concert performed by the Middle School Orchestra, 27.05.22

On 27th May, the staff and students of The Purcell School were treated to a Friday lunchtime concert quite unlike any other. The Middle School Orchestra brought to life the colourful fantasy world of five Studio Ghibli films - 'Kiki's Delivery Service', 'Princess Mononoke', 'Castle in the Sky', 'Spirited Away' and 'Howl's Moving Castle'. 'Kiki’s Delivery Service' – Medley 'Princess Mononoke' – Ashitaka and San 'Castle in the Sky' – The Girl Who Fell from the Sky 'Spirited Away' – One Summer’s Day 'Howl’s Moving Castle' – Merry Go Round of Life The arrangements were composed by a group of three friends; Yi Yun Soo, Tristan Weymes and Lucia Švecová, based on Joe Hisaishi's World Dream Symphony Orchestra concert. The Purcell School is one of the worlds’ finest schools for young musicians aged 10 to 18 and the oldest music school in the UK. Based in Hertfordshire, just outside of London, the School provides a rounded education with music at its heart to around 180 talented students, most of whom go on to the top conservatoires and colleges for music, often with scholarships. Whilst at Purcell, students share a common bond in their passion for music with a community boasting creativity and mutual support. The School puts on nearly 100 events a year including concerts featuring our students and masterclasses with some of the most renowned musicians from across the globe.
