Introduction: This is my first YouTube video so please forgive me for the lack of continuity throughout this video. I needed to break the ice and just post at least one. I am an architect in NYC and manage billion-dollar projects on Revit. I've built Skyscrapers, Hospitals, Clinics, Multi-Family Developments, Single-Family homes (even a Richard Meier renovation), and even Ski-Resorts, all in Revit. I have a stick up my butt about being precise, accurate, precise, accurate, and being precise, and accurate. I hate seeing people go slow, not that it bothers me personally, but I hate to see people stuck in the office longer than they should be so I'm making these videos along many more to help you along your career path. I believe there are already a ton of high-quality Revit tutorials online, such as the one I am reviewing here by the Balkan Architect. So I will not be covering the basics of Revit. For such things, pages like the Balkan Architect and The Revit Kid are great resources for when you're first starting out and then some. So with that said, in my reviews of other people's tutorials, I can be critical, but it's not because I don't think they know the things I'm talking about, but because they make no mentions. Therefore I see people in the office making errors because they saw a youtube video somewhere. I want to fix that and I want you to be able to draw & model whatever you want with extreme accuracy, speed, and confidence. You should never stutter when someone asks you why something is in the location it's in. Always have a plan. Having a model with over thousands of errors once you're in CDs will cause you a tonne of headaches and a lot of hours due to unforeseen errors whether they be graphic or live. In this video, I'll be reviewing a tutorial on using groups in Revit for multi-family developments and sharing my own experience and tips on how to improve the methods presented. I'll be pointing out some common mistakes and providing suggestions on how to streamline your workflow and create more efficient and accurate models. My aim is to help Revit users, whether they're new to the software or experienced, to enhance their skills and avoid common mistakes. Take a look and see how you can improve your approach. * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW! (use ‘KS’ for keyboard shortcuts to customize) I suggest everyone learn these. These are some of the shortcuts I use in my demonstration. Just like when you learn something new, you take it slow. Going slowly for about a week should be enough to get you back to the speed you were at when going to the ribbon. After another 2 weeks and you'll be flying. Avoid going to the ribbon - it takes so much time to go there considering you have to draft and model so much!!! After one year I bet you've spent a full week of your life just going back and forth to that ribbon... * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * DR - Door WA - Wall FL - Floor WN - Window DC - Detail Component CM - Component (Most families) TR – Trim ET – Extend Element EA – Extend Elements JJ – Join SL – Split RE – Scale MV – Move AR – Array CO – Copy + Place CTRL + C – Copy PA – Paste aligned to current view PP – Paste aligned to selected levels PS – Paste aligned to same place SV – Selected all instances; visible in view SA – Selected all instances; in entire project TG – Tag GP – Group UG – Ungroup EH – Hide in view; element HI – Isolate Element HR – Reset temporary hide/isolate BX – Crop section box to selection VG – Visibility/Graphics Overrides EOD – Visibility/Graphics Overrides; Element WT – Expand and tile all open views TW – Collapse all open views ZA – Zoom to fit CH – Close Hidden Views AT – Attach Top/Base PN – Pin Selection UP – Unpin Selection DM – Draw Mirror Axis MM – Pick Mirror Axis SE – Snaps to Endpoint SM – Snaps to Middle-point SC – Snaps to Center of an Arch SP – Snaps to Perpendicular SI – Snaps to intersection SQ – Snaps to Quadrant Points SO – Disables all snap settings MA – Match Properties SX – Set Workplane Timestamp 00:00 - It Begins 06:53 - How To Properly Set Up a Group 45:30 - Example of an advanced Schematic-Level Layout The video featured in this review: • Revit Groups for Multi-Story Buildings Tut...
