1977 (Veteran vocalist Shirley Bassey recorded a wonderful Cover of her friend Paul McCartney's song/hit, Silly Love Songs) Shirley recorded and released this song on her 1977 LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey - You Take My Heart Away' ABOUT The LP, 'You Take My Heart Away' You Take My Heart Away is the twenty-second studio album from Shirley Bassey, released in 1977 on the United Artists label. The album peaked at #34 in the UK album chart. The tracks recorded for this album are contemporary pop, soft rock songs, dating mainly from the early to mid-1970s. The title track "You Take My Heart Away", originally performed by Bill Conti, was featured in the 1976 film Rocky. Other covers versions included are: "This One's for You" from Barry Manilow, "Silly Love Songs" from Wings, which had been a #1 hit single on the Billboard Hot 100, "Stargazer" from Neil Diamond. Only one track dates from a previous era "Can't Help Falling in Love" that had been recorded by Elvis Presley in 1962. Two singles were issued from the album "I Let You Let Me Down Again" which featured "Razzle Dazzle", a non-album track, on the B-side. The second single, issued in the wake of the success of the Rocky movie, was "You Take my Heart Away" with "I Let You Let Me Down Again" issued as the B-side. You Take My Heart Away was issued originally on 33.3rpm vinyl and audio cassette with a sleeve cover photography by Ray Massey. The album was re-issued on a double CD set in 2006, by BGO Records, together with the 1978 album Yesterdays. ABOUT this song: "Silly Love Songs" is a song written and sung by Paul McCartney with his band Wings in 1976. Shirley recorded this song a year later on her, 'You Take My Heart Away' LP. This track fits Shirley's huge vocal style and range perfectly! The song was released by 'Wings' as a single and included on the album Wings at the Speed of Sound. The US single was released on 1 April 1976 and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The UK single was released on 30 April 1976 and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. In addition to a comment about "silly love songs" by John Lennon, McCartney had often been teased by music critics for writing lightweight songs, and he wrote this number in response. "Silly Love Songs" was McCartney's first foray into the then-popular disco sound, with his bass guitar taking a lead role against a steady disco-style drumbeat. As such, it was the forerunner for other 1960s-era British musicians trying their hand at disco; examples that followed included The Rolling Stones' "Miss You" and Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?". LYRICS: You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs. But I look around me and I see it isn't so. Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs. And what's wrong with that? I'd like to know, 'cause here I go again I love you I love you I love you I love you I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, now can't you see? Ah, she gave me more, she gave it all to me, now can't you see, What's wrong with that? I need to know, 'cause here I go again I love you I love you Love doesn't come in a minute, Sometimes it doesn't come at all I only know that when I'm in it It isn't silly, love isn't silly, love isn't silly at all. (I love you) I love you I love you I love you I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, say can't you see? Ah, he gave me more, he gave it all to me, say can't you see You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs. But I look around me and I see it isn't so. Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs. And what's wrong with that?
