*As an extra note!* : When I talk about 'you shouldn't have to do things you don't like', there are parts of doing anything that you're not going to like and thats okay and its important to do those things too. More what I mean is, if you hate doing online vocal covers - don't do those! Hahaha. ♥ Focus on the things that bring you joy and chase those tasks. If you want to be a cosplay idol, do that! If you dont want to cover anisong, don't! An audience can always tell when your heart isn't in it. Its important to not put every moment of your journey on full blast as a 'debuted idol' from the start and have this pressure on you to be a perfect idol 100% of the time, because you're never giving yourself the grace to experiment and grow. I find a lot of people figure out they dont actually want to be an idol (and would rather be a traditional music artist) once they do this AND THATS OKAY! Don't force yourself to do anything that isn't in your heart. Or you find a whole new way to be an idol.... the world really is endless. Something else I didn't mention: GET INVOLVED !!! Whether its discord, or staffing your local convention, being involved with events and supporting them in this way is a great way to get exposure to the community and support it's growth! Not every step you take has to be about supporting your personal brand (/lh). I have seen a lot of discussion in the kaigai idol community over the past year especially centering around 'how do I get started?' and the enthusiasm is a great sign for the growth of our community! So how do you get started? Based on my experience both as a fan and creator myself, here are some of my thoughts on the topic! I think this can apply to really any form of creating and building yourself up as an artist.
