Wires might be loose or something, because it chimes at times, and at times it sounds very low. C lock face lifts up. Very nice clock. Casing is all solid wood. The face has thick glass. Made in china. Pendulum moves nicely. Clock measures 25.5" tall X, the front face is 14" in diameter, X 4" deep. I sell lots of clocks, most are mechanical, but this one for being a battery clock has a very nice casing. The pendulum has a wood shaft. Works on one c battery. Included. Please note: The chimes sometimes chimes, but it chimes, but does not count down the hours. It only chimes on the hour, and not the half. Still a very nice working clock that pendulum moves ans keeps perfect time. When I manually move the hands, it chimes at times. Has to be a loose wire or something as simple as that..
