NOTE FROM TED: TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t... In this engaging talk, Amit Aggarwal walks us through his unconventional choices as he traversed through the world of fashion. Taking inspiration from all that's around him, Amit has shown unprecedented creativity in his field by working with uncustomary material ranging from recycled polymers and industrial scraps. He is a true pioneer in his commitment to sustainability and adapting ethical fashion practices. Amit refuses to limit the scope of fashion, he crafts newer perspectives of building and creating. 'Magic in the mundane,' is what his philosophy strives for. Amit envisions to collaborate and to create what is beyond human capacity. He encourages individuals to express their individuality through fashion, and not be swayed by external pressures or fleeting fads. The team at Amit Aggarwal detaches the perspective of time from fashion, creating an art that is eternal, and ever evolving. To strive for a medium of stimulus today as well as tomorrow. In his unique philosophy of design, Amit encourages one to delve into the unknown, to chase an infinity that stretches beyond simply tangible clothing, but extends to the shapes, structures, and ideologies of the human form. This is the amorphous language of fashion for Amit. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Amit Aggarwal is one of the biggest fashion designers in India today, who has also made a name for himself internationally. After graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi in 2002, Mr. Aggarwal has show-cased his merit on multiple national and international platforms and has worked with some incredibly embellished designers like Tarun Tahiliani. In 2012, he launched his eponymous label "Amit Aggarwal". His debut fashion show at India Fashion Week was crowned as one of the best by Vogue India. Elle India and Marie Claire India have associated him with the title of "Best Young Indian Designer". Amit believes in finding the "magical in the mundane". He covets the lens that looks at fashion and couture from an ordinary, non-technical perspective and gives it a new life. For him, fashion comes from a true understanding of life, it is looking at events and places through a literal 'looking glass', one that subverts and reinvents the common practice. In 2011, Mr. Aggarwal collaborated with Aveda for a hair and makeup trend show and presented his collection at Paris. His work has also been exhibited at the Arken Museum in Copenhagen throwing light on the future of art and fashion from August 2012 to January 2013.
