Written in 2009. Inspired by the Buddhist practice of "feeding your demons". Invite all of your demons inside the clean kitchen of your mind Invite all of your demons for you know that there are other ways in they'll eventually find. You keep locking them out every time they come knocking at your door but if you invite them into your kitchen they won't have the power to knock anymore When you hear the locks rattle in the middle of the darkest hour of the night of the soul When you hear the locks rattle and you know that it's the thief whose come back to get the rest of what they stole You could hide all your valuable things all of your pride with your precious metals or you could let that thief right into your kitchen shake their hand and put on the kettle This house is holy there are holes to fill If your friends won't do it then tyour demons will but you don't want to fight you don't want to fight anymore put on the porch light Open up the gate Unlock the door Invite all of your demons to sit down around the dining room table of your mind Invite all of your demons let them eat of your kindness and drink of your sincerest wine No longer will they wear the white sheet no longer will they lurk in the night with the ghosts I you invite them around your table they will meet you as a guest and greet you as their host
