The Culinary Institue of America is a private collage that offers masters and bachlor degrees in the culinary arts, pastery arts, baking, and hospitality. CIA's alumni are some of the worlds best chefs like Roy Choi, Duff Goldman, Anthony Bourdain, Charlie Palmer, Scott Conant, Rick Moonen, David Burke, Grant Achatz and more. Today we are here with the kids to take the "Taste Like a Chef" class with our kids. We got the CIA Experience with Public Tours With scenic views of the Hudson River, award-winning student-run restaurants, and a campus rich in history (and food), the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY is a foodie destination like no other in the Hudson Valley. The CIA Experience—Taste, Learn, Tour Go behind the scenes of CIA and get an inside look into our world of food. Participate in an interactive demonstration where you’ll explore the science of taste. Tour Roth Hall, the building where culinary magic happens, and be transported to exceptional moments in food history. Connect with CIA students in an exclusive Q&A session. If you love food and want to learn about the mystique of the world-famous CIA, you’ll love this! The Class is by reservation and is $15 a person. We learned from current students of The Culinary Institute of America of the science of taste and how to use sweet, bitter, sour, salt , and umami to enhance food. We conducted or taste experience on grapes using salt, limes, sugar and hot sauce. We then were given a tour of the beautiful campus. We can not help but think of Hogwarts while we are there. The School is full of student run fine dining restaurants that have reservations open to the public. When the tour was done we hit the gift shop and then went across campus to The Egg. The Egg at the Culinary Institute of America is the sudent common room and its dining venue food hall style. This dining venue offers seating for 500 students with an additional 150 seats outdoors. At The Egg, you’ll also find: A wide variety of dining choices at The Line, The Café, and the Innovation Station Brewery classroom Seven lounge areas with couches, armchairs, and cocktail tables Private room for student club meetings and dining The EggA stage for open mic nights, karaoke, comedy shows, cooking demos, and more A piano for impromptu use Three 12x10 multimedia screens State-of-the-art sound system Over 50 device-charging stations High speed Wi-Fi ATM and a mailbox Marketplace featuring a variety of fresh, seasonal foods, and beverages We got artizanal pizza, authintic BBQ, pastries and beers from future brewmasters.
