This recording has been carefully restored from a challenging original source, with the aim of presenting the performance as clearly and faithfully as possible while preserving the character of the room. It is shared on the occasion of what would have been James Booker’s 86th birthday (17 December). The tape was captured by Robert Sacré — Belgian musicologist, writer, radio presenter, and teacher at the University of Liège — who documented and celebrated blues, jazz, and African-American musical traditions over many decades and very generously shared this performance.
