The most basic takedown in Wrestling or BJJ is probably the Double Leg Takedown. Because of that, it's quite often seen used in the lowest to highest levels of competition in both sports, and you could even add MMA to that list. In my colligate career I used it quite a bit. The main reason Double Legs are so effective is because you have the ability to control both of your opponent's hips, which isn't often the case with other takedowns. With that being said, as simple as the takedown is, there are tons of over complicated ways to actually get into it. For me, I focus on having a simple game, with highly effective results.
