Bass Fishing South Africas Land Of The Giants! | Loskop Dam

Loskop Dams rich eco system provides the perfect habitat for these record breaking largemouth bass. This is truly the land of the giant largemouth bass fishing in South Africa In todays video Marnus and myself are on a 2 day search for record breaking bass at Loskop dam. This trip out to Loskop Dam is the beginning of my journey to getting closer to my chance of getting my colours in South African Bass fishing. Loskop Dam is my first stop in this journey. Marnus and myself got together and discussed that we would pre fish 2 weeks before our up and coming comp for the first SABAA Opens. Getting intel on spots so we could really catch giant bass on competition day. Day one started at four o clock in the morning followed by a two and a half hour trip from my house to Forever Resort at Loskop Dam. On arrival we noticed that Forever Resort was hosting there annual Carp Bonanza competition. This made bass fishing tricky due to many of the good bass fishing spots at loskop dam where taken by Carp anglers that had anchored in the locations for the whole day. This didn't put us down so we fished in between all the other anglers to get giant bass to bite. After bass fishing the spots we had planned to fish and catching bass in the spots this made us go to the last and final spot on Loskop Dam to see if we could catch those true giant bass that this dam could offer. with in ten minutes of fishing just outside butterfly bay on a steap bluff wall, Marnus hooked into his first true Loskop Giant. This was truly exciting for him, since it was his first true giant he had caught at Loskop Dam. After this big bass Marnus and I started using The 5 inch The General in and around the cracks on this deep bluff wall. This work really well since I got a true keeper on the boat weighing in at about 1 Kg. After fishing the bluff wall dry we moved our way into butterfly bay. We soon realised the boat was surrounded by true giants that we had hoped to catch at loskop dam. Throwing around a weightless the general for the rest of the day put many giant bass in the boat weighting in over 2 Kgs per bass. We ended day one on a really high note with Marnus and myself being really proud of having a bag weight of 9,28 Kg. After reminiscing of the great bass fishing we had that day. It was time to get some rest for day two. Day 2 was a early start for us, launching the boat just after 6 am. We shot straight to our first spot out side of the dam wall. this stop produced a really good bass so we decided to continue to fish the spot for alittle long. After catching a couple bass we decided to head straight to butterfly bay to catch some giant bass. This didn't take long, me landing a 1,7 kg bass in the first 3 casts. Making a couple cast and catching more bass we decided to fish the other side of butterfly bay to see if we couldn't catch more giant bass and try and beat our bag size we had the previous day. Loskop Dam is truly a special place, it treated the both us really well. Me breaking my personal Best of 3,50 Kg and Marnus catching many 2 Kg giants.
