INTERVIEW AGENTS. Pop into real estate companies and interview some agents on their experience. You may find you don’t want to do real estate or you may find you love it! Offer to take some top producing agents out to lunch. That always helps. This would also be a good time to see what different companies have to offer you as a new agent once you get started. 2. SEARCH & SIGNUP FOR THE COURSE. Sign up for the real estate course. Quick google search on getting real estate license in your area will give you a good amount of information and courses available. Some real estate companies will even offer to pay or reimburse you for the cost of the course. One thing to keep in mind is DON’T GIVE UP! If you don’t pass the first time TRY AND TRY AGAIN! 3. STUDY & BE PREPARED! Once you’ve signed up for the course. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! There’s plenty of free on-line prep courses or opt for the paid version which will have almost the identical exams. It’s worth it! 4. FIND A COMPANY! Once you’ve passed the exam and have the license now it’s time to hang your license up at a real estate company. You’ll have plenty of options for real estate companies looking to bring on new agents. Find what each company offers you for trainings, what fees you are responsible for, what your commission split will be as a new agent, if they offer you leads for you to start working on, ask how many agents work there that are producing verses non-producing. You may have a company already in mind but if you don’t take your time to make a good decision. Worst case you can always make a switch if it’s not a good fit. 5. HAVE SAVINGS! Once you take the leap of faith and start working in real estate, it’s a great idea to have 6 to 8 months or more if possible months of savings to cover your expenses. Real estate transactions can take 45 to 60 days before you see a paycheck and if a deal doesn’t close then you won’t see any income. 6. START PART-TIME? A great way to start working in real estate is part-time. Many agents start working with buyers since the learning curve is shorter and may fit your work schedule since most buyers want to see homes during nights and weekends. Just be prepared to give up some QT. Small sacrifices for the BIGGER picture! 7. Find A MENTOR! No need to reinvent the wheel. There are plenty y of successful people you can find who can teach you what mistakes they’ve made and how to avoid them and they can teach you how to become successful by doing what they do. If you want to produce at a high level get comfortable with the word PROSPECT! This is a sales job. You have to go and find the deal!
