Location: Powderhorn Drive north of Summerside Road System: Clermont County Test time: 1st Wednesday of the month at noon Enthusiasts present: Tommy (@buckeyenotifications) For the first Wednesday of May, we decided to go back to the C-Series 4/5 in Clermont because it hadn't been filmed since we were last here in January 2022. Another reason for our return here is because Tommy recently got a couple ambiance recordings in Clermont where this siren was audible, and it sounded lower-pitched than before, so we wanted to hear it up close again at this lower pitch. Up close, we noticed that it still has slight pitch fluctuations, much like it did last time we were here. If my memory serves me right, there is apparently some sort of problem with the chopper motor on this unit which has caused it to lose pitch over the last few years. If that is the case, then this 'bolt's days as a 4/5 may be numbered, because they'll likely have to swap the chopper motor at some point. I'm not sure if it's just because of the lower pitch or if it's the lack of wind, but it seemed a bit louder than I had remembered from last time we were here. I would put this roughly on par with Wapak's 1003 to my ears. It also looks like the trees behind it have grown out a considerable bit over the past couple years. You can even see the horn pushing through the branches as it rotates away. Anyway, it was nice to get an updated recording of this, even though it seems to be slightly sick now. Before this siren starts, some of Hamilton County's T-128s can be heard winding up in the distance. Enjoy! Tight shot: Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 Wide shot: Sony HDR-PJ710 Audio: Zoom H1n
