So, I really don't like making straw millinery but for some reason, every couple of years, I decide that it 'isn't so bad'. Cut to me trying to fashion a straw bonnet out of braid. I used a bonnet in the Metropolian Museum of Art as the model and Timely Tresses's Eliza Coretta bonnet pattern to help me with shaping. So the finished product is nice and I do like it now that it's done. Warning: there's a good portion of the video that is just me complaining about millinery and talking about how much I hate working in straw :). Eliza Coretta pattern: https://www.timelytresses.com/store/p... Timely Tresses straw bonnet forms just in case you're not as crazy as me: https://www.timelytresses.com/store/p... *You can also check out their in stock forms as they are cheaper than made to order. AND they sell completely finished bonnets in case you don't want to do any work. Braid I used to form the bonnet: https://www.timelytresses.com/store/p.... Timely Tresses also sells all the netting, lining, silk, millinery wire, etc. that you could need: https://www.timelytresses.com/store/c... AND https://www.timelytresses.com/store/c... Timely Tresses also sells ribbons, flowers, leaves, and feathers for trimming bonnets which is where I got nearly all of my trimmings for this bonnet. If you want to totally free hand a mid-19th century bonnet, you can use Anna Worden Bauersmith's straw bonnet workbook found on her blog: https://annaworden.com/pdf-pages/stra...
