Continuing with our seventh class in our sub-unit on how Judaism views using "Honeypot" sexual lures in wartime, we proceed beyond our prior series of six background and contextual classes on the Biblical accounts of (i) Yael the Kenite and Sisera the Canaanite General, (ii) Queen Esther of Persia and The King and Haman, and (iii) the premeditated sinful and inciteful lure of the Women of Midian. We apply all we have learned to delve more deeply into whether -- if ever -- Halakha (Jewish law) allows the use of the Sex Lure for Piku'ach Nefesh, to save lives in peril of impending death. We look at the 3 grave inviolable sins (idolatry and theological apostasy (avodah zarah), spilling of innocent blood (sh'fikhut damim), and Biblically forbidden sexual acts (giluy arayot), weigh them against the principle of Pikuach Nefesh (primacy of saving lives, even when such rescue requires acting contrary to primary Judaic laws like the Shabbat or Kashrut laws), and we weigh other factors ranging from whether the spy is married, is male or female, and whether the goal is to save a few or many people -- and how many -- or the entirety of the Jewish people (Klal Yisrael). Judaism has unique attitudes toward sex, unique rules and laws, even within marriage. These laws are deemed central to what distinguishes Judaism and observant Jews from all other people and nations. This lecture was offered as part of a larger exposition on August 14, 2025 at the weekly class I teach every Thursday evening on Jewish Ethics and Values in War. #sex #sexual #dougemhoff #kamalaharris #jewishreligion #judaism #jews #bible #midianitewomen #moabitewomen #prostitution #zimri #queenesther #yael #vanunu Please subscribe to our YouTube channel. (People like to learn about the Bible and about the Judaism that is studied, believed, and practiced by Jews who actually are Judaically knowledgeable and passionate about authentic Judaism and Israel.) Rabbi Dov Fischer of Young Israel of Orange County teaches Tanakh (Bible) every Tuesday night on Zoom at 7:00-8:00 pm Pacific Time . . . and Rambam's Mishneh Torah every Thursday night on Zoom at 6:30-7:30 pm Pacific Time. His style is exceptionally unique, mixing text, Midrashim, Classic Rabbinic Commentaries, Movie clips, Music, Maps, and unique insights born of 40+ years as a rav, a highly effective litigation attorney, a law professor, and an opinion columnist and senior editor at two major daily online publications, The American Spectator and Arutz Sheva/Israel National News. Rav Fischer was ordained at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), receiving smikha from Rav Yosef Ber Soloveitchik and Rav Norman Lamm in 1981. He received his law degree from UCLA School of Law in 1993 and clerked in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit for the Hon. Judge Danny J. Boggs, then practiced law 10 years at three of America's most prominent law firms: TJones Day, Akin Gump, and Baker and Hostetler. Simultaneously, he was a law professor for 16 years, primarily at University of California at Irvine and at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. He brings all of that -- plus a Catskills sense of humor -- into his Torah teaching. Rav Fischer dedicates all his Torah teaching to Ellen (Groh) Fischer of blessed righteous memory, his partner in life for 20 years until Hashem brought her to Gan Eden (Paradise) by a cancer disease in 2020.
