It is an image that first moved France, before plunging it into stupor: in the fall of 2017, Jonathann Daval, devastated in public, mourns the disappearance of his wife Alexia, found dead in the woods. Supported by his in-laws and an entire distraught town, he appears as a grieving husband. But a few weeks later, the shock is immense: Jonathann confesses to the murder of his wife, arousing fear and incomprehension. Premeditated murder or explosion of violence from a man who felt dominated? As his trial opens in Vesoul (Haute-Saône), two visions are opposed: the accused's lawyers argue for an impulsive, irrational act, committed under the pressure of a feeling of inferiority.
