Part 2 of 3 Family lawyer Grace Brass explains what courts will take into consideration when determining child contact arrangements. For legal advice with a specialist family lawyer, call Slater and Gordon Lawyers today on 0808 175 7783, or contact us online https://www.slatergordon.co.uk/contac... Transcript: What has been the arrangements previously between the parents? Where has the child resided? And what time has the child spent with the none resident parent? What has been the previous situation? And what do the parents both want? But most importantly, what is in the best interests of the child? It may well be that the court will ask a Cafcass officer to go speak to the child to get their wishes and feelings. It may be that the court asks for formal written statements from the parents, setting out their proposals. If after a number of hearings the parents still can't agree then there would need to be a final hearing, where the parents give evidence on what they say is in the best interests of the child and the court would make the final decision.
