Ingredients: Pepper Corns: 1 Tsp Jeera: 1 Tsp Garlic Pods: 10 Nos Curry Leaves: Few Green Chilli: 1 Nos Oil: 1 Tsp Fenugreek: 1/4 Tsp Jeera: 1/4 Tsp Curry Leaves: Few Ginger: 1 Piece Dry Red Chillies: 2 Nos Asafoetida: A Pinch Grated White Pumpkin: 1 Tbsp Salt: 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder: 1/4 Tsp Tamarind Juice: 1/2 Cup Tomato: 2 Nos Coriander Leaves: Few Method: 1. To a Mortar and pestle add 1 tsp of pepper corns and 1 tsp of jeera. Grind to a fine powder. 2. To this add 10 garlic pods, few curry leaves and 1 green chilli. Crush them well. Keep this ready. Now lets start the preparation. 3. Heat a mud pot. To this add 1 tsp of oil. When the oil is nice and hot add 1/4 tsp of fenugreek, 1/4 tsp of jeera, few curry leaves, 2 dry red chillies, 1 piece of crushed ginger, 1 tbsp of grated white pumpkin or ash gourd, pinch of asofietida. Give it a quick mix. Then add the crushed ingredients, 2 ripe tomatoes finely chopped, 1 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder. Mix it well until the tomato turns mashy. 5. Now the tomato is cooked well, so add 1/2 cup of tamarind juice & 2 cups of water. Mix it well and allow it to come to a boil. 6. Once it start to boil sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves. 7. Now our delicious Ginger pumpkin rasam is ready. Serve it nice and hot with some steamed rice and enjoy with your family and friends.
