দীপাবলিতে ঘরটুকুই আলো করবেন? কথাব্রজ...সঙ্গে শশাঙ্ক Deepawali, Dipanwita, Diwali, or Diwari—all mean the same: the festival of lights. The earth glows with the illumination of countless lamps, a tradition that dates back to ancient times. References to festive lamp-lighting can even be traced to the era of the Kāmasūtra and to the royal courts of ancient kings where, according to legend, the attendants of Lord Kubera played dice on the night of Diwali. Later, glimpses of similar celebrations appear in the Rāmāyaṇa, when Lord Rāma returned to Ayodhyā after fourteen years of exile and the defeat of Rāvaṇa. Historical records also show that the festival continued during the reign of King Harshavardhana and later flourished under Emperor Akbar. Scholars mention that in Bengal, the celebration of Diwali existed from very early times, though the worship of Goddess Kālī became associated with it later. There are clear regional differences in how the festival is celebrated across India. In North India, it marks Lord Rāma’s return and the victory of righteousness, while in South India it commemorates Lord Krishna’s triumph over the demon Narakāsura. The festival begins on the thirteenth day of the lunar fortnight (Trayodashi) and continues until Bhrātrī Dwitīyā. Traditional rituals include using fourteen different medicinal leaves (Chaturdasha Patra) and lighting fourteen earthen lamps, symbolizing protection and purification. Philosophically, the illumination of Diwali signifies the lighting of the inner lamp — the removal of ignorance and darkness from the human mind. It reminds us to cleanse our inner selves of greed, desire, and anger so that the divine light of consciousness may shine forth. Thus, Deepawali is not merely a festival of external lights but an occasion for inner awakening and holistic illumination. ------------------------------------- #Deepawali #Dipanwita #Diwali #Diwari #festival of lights #illumination #lamps #tradition #ancient times #lamp-lighting #era #Kāmasūtra #royal courts #ancient #legend #Lord Kubera #dice #glimpses #celebrations #Rāmāyaṇa #Lord Rāma #Ayodhyā #exile #Rāvaṇa. #Historical #Harshavardhana #Emperor Akbar #Scholars #Bengal #early time #worship #Goddess Kālī #regional #North India #righteousness #South India #Krishna #demon #Narakāsura #lunar fortnight #Trayodashi #Bhrātrī Dwitīyā. #Traditional #rituals #medicinal leaves #Chaturdasha Patra #earthen lamps #symbolizing #protection #purification #Philosophically #inner lamp #ignorance #darkness #human mind #cleanse #innerselves #greed #desire #anger #consciousness #awakening #holistic #illumination #শশাঙ্ক #কথাব্রজ #podcast #kathabrajo #kathabraja #ancient text #mythology #storytelling --------------------------------------- Deepawali ,Dipanwita ,Diwali ,Diwari ,festival of lights ,illumination ,lamps ,tradition ,ancient times ,lamp-lighting ,era ,Kāmasūtra , royal courts ,ancient ,legend ,Lord Kubera ,dice ,glimpses , celebrations ,Rāmāyaṇa ,Lord Rāma ,Ayodhyā ,exile ,Rāvaṇa. ,Historical ,Harshavardhana ,Emperor Akbar ,Scholars ,Bengal, early time, worship ,Goddess Kālī ,regional ,North India ,righteousness ,South India ,Krishna ,demon ,Narakāsura ,lunar fortnight ,Trayodashi ,Bhrātrī Dwitīyā ,Traditional ,rituals ,medicinal leaves ,Chaturdasha Patra ,earthen lamps ,symbolizing ,protection ,purification ,Philosophically ,inner lamp ,ignorance ,darkness ,human mind ,cleanse ,innerselves ,greed ,desire ,anger ,consciousness ,awakening ,holistic ,llumination.
