The pec major has to origins: one from the sternum and the other from the clavicle. Both of the portions converge laterally to form a tendon that then inserts into the humerus bone. Over time, the pec major experiences "wear and tear" and often begins to accumulate fascial adhesions. These fascial adhesions causes a decrease in the normal elasticity of the pec major muscle. As the result, the pec major tendon can begin to get "tugged". This causes pain in the anterior aspect of the shoulder. Dr. Joe demonstrates how to perform fascial release work on the outer portion of the pec major to help break up any fascial adhesions that may have accumulated in this area. These techniques are helpful for prevention injuries in the gym and also for increase chest/shoulder mobility.
