Freaky Flowers 2: Wilting Wonders

Hello! How about something different in terms of flower timelapses? Let's watch them wilt rather than bloom. I hope you'll agree that the wilting is just as fascinating as the blooming and often equally beautiful. Stunning motion ... shapes ... colors. This compilation of timelapses shows a dozen types of Echinopsis cactus flowers at the end of their brief existence. Most of the clips compress roughly 24 hours of activity from after the flowers have bloomed until they have wilted into 10-12 seconds of video. A few clips show longer 36-72 hour periods capturing the full cycle of flowers growing, blooming and wilting. One thing for sure about these flowers: they never stop moving. I guess there is a point at which they are "open" vs. having been closed. But there isn't a point where the flowers hold an "open" pose for a period of even a minute. Rather the petals are in constant motion from the moment the flower starts to open until it is completely wilted. Each of the clips in this video shows a cactus from my somewhat out-of-control collection. The evening the flowers are going to bloom (if I've judged correctly), I bring them inside and film them in my "studio" (one of the bathrooms in my small house that no one gets to use for for normal purposes during the 7 months of cacti blooming season). I shoot with a Canon 6D and typically either a Canon 100mm or Canon 35mm lens. I use LED panel lights ... love the fact they remain cool over the day+ of shooting. In most instances, I take 2 shots per minute as the flower blooms and then slow to 1 shot a minute for the following 24 hours as the flower wilts. For processing, I edit the RAW files in Lightroom, and then work up the video in Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. In order of appearance the Echinopsis cactus hybrids that star in Freaky Flowers 2 are: 'Orange California', 'Beautiful Dreamer', 'Daydream', 'Cabaret', 'Antimatter', 'Temptress', 'Volcanic Sunset', an unnamed hybrid I have named 'WWP', 'Antimatter', 'Madame Pele', 'Sorceress', 'Arizona Sunset'.
