Award winning Olive Oil surrounding Muro de Alcoy Spain

Before scooting (towards Southern Spain) my friend told me I'm heading towards the Olive Oil capital of the world. I had no idea as I decided to showcase a few local companies! In short order I learned another friend had connections she could help introduce me to when I arrived to the area. Thx much for connecting me to Liz as you rock Mr Dyches. Initially I met with Hugo (with Senorios de Relleu) to learn how they have won International awards and recently signed an agreement bringing their products to the USA. Then amazingly Liz easily set-up a tour of Almazara La Alqueria with Tony the owner. Tony went above and beyond to show us the entire Olive Oil process from planting the seed, maintaining a happy healthy tree (for many many years), to collecting the olives, separating them, pressing them, storing the oil, packaging, preparing for shipment all way down to a bottle sitting on a shelf waiting to be purchased. I must say I had no idea what it took to prepare an award winning olive oil yet thankfully now I do. Let alone the true medicinal benefits we receive from an Extra Virgen Olive Oil (EVOO) as I appreciate the time and efforts these gentlemen extended to help educate me on this industry!
