We return to metal detect the same historic property from last week, but this time we pushed into brand new ground that had never been detected before. What happened next turned this into one of the most unforgettable days I’ve had all year. If you watched the last hunt, you already know how special this place is. That field gave up a handful of early American and colonial copper coins, a George Washington Inaugural Button, a 1600s Chinese coin, countless early buttons, knee buckles, and other amazing pieces, plus Lynne's first ever 1700s Spanish silver 1/2 reale! An incredible day by any standard. But our returning hunting untouched ground took things to an entirely different level. We dug more colonial coppers, more buttons, and more incredible relics that confirmed just how old and active this site really was. But then everything changed. A once in a lifetime find stopped us cold, The kind of thing I never expected to see come out of the ground, and here it is sitting in my hand! But then after that, just when it felt like the day couldn’t possibly get any better, the field delivered one more shock that none of us saw coming. Some hunts are good. Some are memorable. And once in a while, the ground leaves even the most seasoned Treasure Hunters completely in awe!
