Our final day in Switzerland brought unexpected challenges as our paragliding plans were dashed by poor weather conditions—wind and snow canceled our flight, leaving us disheartened. However, viewing it as an opportunity for a future visit, we made our way to Zermatt. Starting our day with breakfast from Coop Supermarkt yesterday night, all the food items we bought were referring to items the locals purchase and we love to try the most local food possible on our trip. Despite the setback, the first thing we did when we arrived was to try the world's most expensive McDonald's burger, a simple bacon beefburger priced at five times its original cost in my home currency. The extravagance was justified by the exceptional setting of Zermatt, where we enjoyed strolling through the snowing street of the village, I discovered one of my favorite watch featured in a magazine, and had the chance to try it on. Our journey continued to the summit of Gornergrat mountain, reaching 3000m above sea level. The landscape was transformed into a winter wonderland, with everything cloaked in pristine white snow, resembling the marbling of A5 Wagyu. Despite the freezing temperatures and obscured views due to clouds, the experience of lying on the snow, with our hands turning purple but capturing the moment in photos, made it all worthwhile. I can see many other tourist were also carrying their Toblerone for photos with the Matterhorn in the background, but unfortunately, the clouds obscured any views of the surrounding mountains. Descending to the car-free and magical village of Zermatt, we immersed ourselves in its peaceful yet lively ambiance, filled with music and bustling shops. Before bidding farewell to our Swiss adventure, we savored a traditional cheese fondue, savoring the flavors of Switzerland and concluding our trip on a satisfying note. Although our paragliding plans were thwarted, the unexpected moments and unique experiences in Zermatt added an unforgettable chapter to our Swiss journey, leaving us with the anticipation of returning in the future.
