George Brind reads today’s story, “Toby’s Tightrope”, taken from the twenty-sixth “Railway Series” book, “Tramway Engines”; the last one written by his reverence Wilbert Awdry. The illustrations are by Gunvor and Peter Edwards. After a recent incident, Mavis is restricted to the quarry sternly by the Manager. Following the coming and going of frost and the increasing of work, Mavis convinces the Manager to let her go as far as the crossing. She plans to go further down the line, asking the trucks to push her at the crossing. However, when Toby comes, the trucks decide to do it to him, and he ends up suspended over a raging torrent on a wrecked bridge with dangling rails. Can Mavis rescue him? Adapted from the famous “Railway Series” written from 1945 – 2011 by his reverence, Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, “Sodor Railway Tales” tells the exciting stories of some anthropomorphic engines on the Island of Sodor.
